Mr Barlow was an amazing teacher he made me laugh and I enjoyed his dry sense of humor he made me think and enjoy school. I wasn't super smart but he would tell I was bright. I had a hard childhood but he was a bright spot in my life. I saw him after college and he told me he knew I would make it. He will be missed and he will always be special to me.

This one hurts. As I get older, I am, unfortunately, getting used to the idea of losing friends and heroes along the way. But Phil was special to me. When I was 14 years old I took a 4-week journalism workshop from him, then a whole class from him the next year, and he set me on the path in both teaching and in journalism that I followed for the rest of my life. I modeled myself after him as an adviser. I am so lucky to have spent an evening with him at a reunion two and a half years ago. His photograph hangs on my office wall at home.

Journey well and in peace, Phil. And thanks.

So sad to hear of Mr. Barlowes passing. I always enjoyed having the same lunch period as Phil. He went through the same rituals every day at the table while eating his lunch...never in a hurry. Listening to his stories told in great detail with that booming voice...one couldnt help but to smile. Also...great parties back in the day at that great A-frame house. R. I. P. Mr. Barlowe...you were truly one of a kind. Nice Mustang!
