Tribute & Message From The Family

Brian King
51, of Lowell, IN, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kimberly nee Clark; daughter, Taylor (Jeremy) Kirk and his son Brandon; one grandchild on the way; mother and stepfather, Irene and Gary Rockhill; siblings, Gena (David) Maple, Debbie (Keith) Bulthius; father, James.
Brian attended Calumet Baptist School for the majority of his life. He graduated from Merrillville High School in 1984. Brian started attending Lake Hills Baptist Church in Schererville, IN. Brian was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved taking off to West Virginia with his son, Brandon for a week to his Candy Ass Camp family for great times of deer hunting and sitting around the fire. Brian Garton, his spring fishing partner and friend for over 30 years, put many blue gill and crappie on the stove. Brian loved music of all types. He enjoyed listening to Merle Haggard sitting on the porch or rocking out Iron Maiden working in the garage. Brian was a former Marine and a member of the Marine Corp League. He was a member of AMVRA LOWELL and a former AMVRA board member. Brian worked at Community Hospital in their maintenance shop as a carpenter. He loved his time there and the work family bonds he made there.
Brian left behind many friends and family that supported him over the last 18 months with his cancer battle. Those people were very special to him in his daily walk with Christ and his fight against cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family is taking donations to the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation for cancer patients and their families. Condolence & Memory Journal

To Kim and all the family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I only became aware of Brian's battle with cancer back in November on a quick visit home to Indiana. The photo of Brian in his basketball uniform at CBHS really took me back; I always enjoyed Brian's competitive drive, great spirit, and his always instant humor. I cannot imagine the void that his absence brings, but I am grateful to know that we will all be together in heaven again some day. Praying and remembering everyone in your family through this time.

We are truly saddened by the news of Brian's passing. We met Brian when he was working in Cleveland and was staying in one of the units in our building. We enjoyed sitting at the pool with him and just talking for hours. He was a good soul. We felt like we knew his family just from how much he talked (bragged) LOL about them. When we met Kim we saw just what he loved about her. Even though there were miles between us Brian was frequently in our thoughts and conversations. Rico always enjoyed their phone conversations and was so glad that they never lost touch. Kim, you and your family are in our prayers and we know that God's grace will shine upon you all. Rest in Heaven Brian King

I went to Calumet Baptist and Merrillville high school with Brian. We hung out at his parent's home a few times together. He came from a wonderful family and he was a wonderful guy. RIP Brian.
