Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Dennis by adding your memories and photos.

Dennis J Speer 78, of Crown Point passed away Dec 11, 2016 in his home of 40 years with his wife and son by his side. He is survived by Leta, the LOVE of his life and wife of 49 years; his son and daughter-in-law Derek & Dana and their three children. Mercedes, Danica and Derek Jr; and his younger brother Robert of Knox. Dennis graduated from Morocco High and attended the Univ of Illinois @ Navy Pier before serving in the Army, First Division. He had a long and respectable career at Ford Motor Co. as a Quality Engineer, twice winning awards for his unique designs to improve quality. Dennis had a passion for photography and an eye for finding beauty in the world. He also was a pilot from the time he was a youth and although he couldn't fly as often as he would have liked, it gave him great happiness. He enjoyed golfing and car shows, but his true love was his family, always putting them first. He was a loving husband, excellent father, wonderful host, and true friend to all who knew him.
Visitation, Saturday, December 17, from 11-1, concluding with Funeral Services, at 1PM, all at Sheets Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell. Burial will follow in Lake Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family. www.sheetsfuneral.com

Condolence & Memory Journal

Leta, Derek & Family,
Steve & I are so saddened to learn of Dennis's passing. He has been a wonderfully kind neighbor and friend to us for the past 30 years. When he had the tree in the front cut down, our grandson Jack & I came to watch the sawyer guys. Dennis enjoyed Jack's interest in that. He took a few pictures of Jack and took the trouble to e-mail them to me. Thank you Leta & Dennis for being such wonderful people. We are honored to have known him.

Leta-I am so sad for the loss of your husband. He sounds like he was a wonderful man who loved you and the family. I am sure you have some wonderful memories.
